MITER GAUGE MOUNT:
To mount the Box Joint Jig Ultra Track Fence to
your Woodhaven miter gauge, use the hardware (bolts,
washers & knobs) that came with our miter gauge.
To mount to another brand of miter gauge, attach a 3/4”
thick wood sub-fence (not provided) to your miter gauge
with wood screws (not provided). Drill two 9/32” mounting
holes in the wood sub-fence located 1-1/2” or 2-1/4” up off
the table and located in an area that will not interfere with the
operation of the miter gauge or the use of the knobs. Use the
1-1/4” bolts (HB040), washers (WS002) and knobs (5540)
to attach the Ultra Track (4555A) to the wood sub-fence.

JIG OPERATION:
The legs of the Stops protrude past the face of the
Sub-Fence and should always be to the right of the bit/
blade when viewed from behind as you’d be working with
it, or to the left of the bit/blade when viewed from the front.
Adjust the Ultra Track left or right in relation to the bit/
blade so that the gap between the Stationary Stop and the bit/
blade equals (approximately) the width of the router bit or
dado blade. For example, if you’re cutting 1/2” box joints,
the gap between the Stationary Stop and bit/blade should
also be 1/2”. To start, set the gap to slightly less than 1/2”.
Stand a test workpiece on end with it’s edge butted
up against the Stationary Stop. Hold or clamp the work and
slide the jig forward far enough to cut completely through
the work and NO FURTHER, then turn the power off. Do
this to a second workpiece also. Interlock the two fingers
of the workpieces and measure the gap between them
using a feeler gauge (not supplied) or pieces of paper.

Joints that are glued should have a “slip” fit
(approximately .005” of gap) to allow room for the
glue. Adjust the fit of the joint by slightly increasing
or decreasing the distance between the Stationary Stop and
the bit/blade by moving the Ultra Track slightly left (looser)
or right (tighter) on the miter gauge. Since the joint in our
example above should be too loose, set the feeler gauge, or
piece(s) of paper against the left side of the miter gauge, then
clamp a wood block to the track so the feeler gauge or papers
are sandwiched between the block and miter gauge.
Remove the feeler gauge or papers, loosen the
two knobs holding the Ultra Track and slide the Ultra
Track to the right until the wood block is against the
miter gauge. Make additional test cuts until satisfied
with the fit. Always make sure the bit/blade exits thru
the cutout in the Ultra Track and never strikes it.
